305 Cigarettes

Posted on March 18, 2010.
305 CigarettesEffects of smoking - OMG you would not believe all the chemicals in a cigarette!

I have a few friends and family that smoke and I wanted to know what chemicals they put in their bodies with every cigarette, every day. Not to mention all the other effects of smoking. So I decided to do a little research. I was stunned. The general consensus is around 599 additives.

The big problem is that these additives were not tested by burning them. The combustion of most of these additives change the chemical compounds. It produces more than 4,000 chemical compounds, many of which are toxic and / or carcinogenic. Not to mention the smoke that you inhale, which contains carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia and 43. are known carcinogens in the smoke you breathe and share with others.

Chemicals found in cigarette smoke

Benzene - A gasoline additive. A colorless hydrocarbon obtained from coal and oil, used as a solvent in fuel and chemical production. (Also found in cigarette smoke). It is a carcinogen and is associated with leukemia.

Formaldehyde - an embalming fluid. A colorless, highly poisonous, used to preserve dead bodies. (Also found in cigarette smoke. Known to cause cancer, respiratory diseases, skin and gastrointestinal problems.

Ammonia - toilet cleaner. Found in dry cleaning. It is used as a flavoring frees nicotine tobacco by converting it into a gas. (Also found in cigarette smoke).

Acetone - nail polish remover. Volatile liquid fragrant ketone, used as a solvent. (Also found in cigarette smoke).

Tar - the particles in the lungs when you inhale a lit cigarette. Once inhaled, smoke condenses and about 70% of tar in the smoke settles in the lungs of smokers.

Nicotine - insecticide, a drug addictive. One of the most addictive substances known to man, a powerful and fast-acting medical and non medical poisons. Is the chemical that causes addiction.

Carbon monoxide (CO) - the exhaust. An odorless, tasteless and poisonous gas, rapidly fatal in large quantities. It's the same gas that comes out of the car exhaust and is the main gas in cigarette smoke, formed when the cigarette is lit.

Arsenic - poison against rats. (It is also found in cigarette smoke).

Hydrogen cyanide - a poison gas chamber. (It is also found in cigarette smoke)

Now you can understand why secondhand smoke is also dangerous. You are poisoning yourself by choice, but of others around you, family, children, seniors, and friends have no choice.
