Belgian Waffle Maker

I just got a Belgian waffle from a friend and she has lost the meaning of So I was wondering how do u use the Belgian waffle makers gormet that allow u to return it. there is a power indicator light and a loan. I have a heat setting 1-4 How well do u put the dough in? and how u know when the waffle is ready to prevent it from opening and having the dough stick around?
