Koh Tao, or Turtle Island, is not a large island, because it covers only 21 square kilometers. It is located in the Gulf of Thailand off the coast west coast, and it only takes about half past one to achieve high-speed catamaran from Chumphon.

I recently went there to meet with my friend Shane and Sao, his lovely bride. Sao business of supporting the diving industry on the island, and focuses on the rental PvtHE. For the uninitiated, PvtHE (Diver Propulsion Vehicle) is normally used for diving and snorkeling and up to a depth of 30 meters

Shane has had a number of commercial enterprises in the United Kingdom and Portugal. I wanted to know from Sao she had learned from him, and also, what was his experience running a business in Thailand mainly catering to foreigners.

Allan - Ok, Sao, how you learned from Shane in a small business?

Sao - Well, it was quite a novelty to this small island, learning to dive and restart the underwater scooter company. It was a discovery, and I am pleased that generally all the people I deal with are overall a nice group.

Allan - What is the market like PvtHE on the island right now?

Sao - We are fortunate that most diving schools on the island are happy to use our services, and frankly, diving with a DPV is very fun!

Allan - What has been your most frustrating moments of business on the island?

Sao - Get parts for Seadoo PvtHE. Although Seadoo is a name known in the industry of water sports, we usually have more broken machines that work, and to obtain spare parts is a nightmare. Currently 70% of our PvtHE broke down and we waited nearly a year for parts. We hope that Seadoo can get their house in order and we can return to provide the best service available.

Allan - And what is your favorite part of the job?

Sao - go out and talk to people every day, and the best audience of all our clients had a great time with the PvtHE

Allan - What advice would you give to someone starting a small business in Thailand?

Sao - If you plan to start a business providing goods or service, make sure you can count on your suppliers. The buck stops with you. !

As I've only been to Koh Tao for a couple of times, I also thought it would be good to find Shane ideas on what to see and do on the island.

Allan - I know that Koh Tao is famous as a dive site, then what do you recommend to do and see during the day?

Shane "There is not much to do on the island, except sports and cold, but we have a mini-golf and bowling, paintball, climbing and skiing river, wakeboarding and snorkeling.

A snorkeling trip around the island is a great day, available with various companies for about 650bt, stopping at five different bays around.
