Bisquick Desserts

Posted on February 26, 2010.
Bisquick DessertsI am wanting to bake a dessert, but the recipe calls for Bisquick and I have only flour. It is almost the same.

can i use flour instead?

Well .. do not worry ...

Mix 8 cups flour rising
and 2 cups of shortening .. it mixes really good ... and store in a plastic bowl and refrigerate ... Bisquick you ... and use it as you would Bisquick .. It's the same thing!
hope this helps you

Me do not think it will come right. Bisquick has fat (lard) already mixed in, then that is what the difference is. So unless you make your own Bisquick (flour and add the fat and mix until it looks like Bisquick do) then I would not try to use it.

Bisquick is not a meal but a quick mix, it contains oils and yeast which is the basis for pancakes and biscuits. Use Bisquick to replace fish meal would be like adding cake mix to replace fish meal ...

No, this is not the same thing. It has baking powder and soda added to the oil like the light version, or the shortening of the original, with the Bisquick in a pinch, you can add water to it you will get the same results for a water biscuit. AP flour, you must add the same ingredients as if you get a Bisquick Bisquick read the label, it will tell you what's inside. you can not use flour that simply must be other ingredients to make it work. If you're using it as cover for fish or chicken, it can work, to make cookies that will not work.

I gave you a link below for a Master Mix as Bisquick. Flour, of course, is one of the ingredients. You'll need to add Crisco, salt, sugar, baking powder and cream of tartar. Otherwise, your recipe will not lift or agents of fat. The link will also get other "alternative" recipes that use oil instead of Crisco and other slight variations in the quantities of sugar, etc. The one I gave you is that I did it for the first time on Monday, when I was out of Bisquick?

Enjoy your dessert!
