At Pushkar, a sacred town in Rajasthan, one can literally feel a unique experience. Especially if one is there at the time of one of a kind fair - this show is the largest cattle fair and highly anticipated worldwide.

Located in the middle of the desert, Pushkar is a sleep, a charming little town in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan. There are several temples here that are located along the lake Pushkar. Pushkar has the only Brahma temple in India. Legend has it that Brahma was on his way to find a suitable place to perform Yagna (a fire sacrifice), and while contemplating, a lotus fell from his hand over the land and water pushed in that place and a sacred lake was formed. To date, Pushkar is a holy place of pilgrimage for Hindus.

Pushkar festivals are associated with the colorful culture of Rajasthan. In fact, we can say that it permeates the life and spirit of the carnival that makes it special and distinct festivals. Well, it is one of the most renowned festivals, which attracts many tourists. Now, you have to ask how it is celebrated if you have some knowledge about it. Pushkar festivals are celebrated in India in winter. Although the public holidays are not fixed, but like other Hindu festivals, the festival of Pushkar dates depend on the lunar calendar. According to the Hindu almanac, the fair is held during the full moon of the month of Kartik, traditionally in November. Come November, and the desert comes alive with the hustle and bustle of people and more with cattle and camels.

It is not only a camel fair, also a cultural phenomenon where one feels alive rejoicing that the atmosphere is alive with colorfully dressed devotees, musicians, acrobats, folk dancers, traders, comedians, and holy men tourists to explore this fabulous fair in Pushkar. Although originally meant for trade camels and cattle only, the Pushkar Camel Fair has become a major tourist attraction. Highlights Pushkar Camel Fair are colorful, vibrant bazaars, enchanting folk music and sports involving camels.

On the last day, people rush to the bathing Ghats to cool while chanting sacred mantras and prayers. At sunset, thousands of small earthen lamps are lit and kept on boats delicate leaves and released into the tranquil waters of Pushkar Lake and the iridescent lights to create a wonderfully peaceful spectacle. This is a greater purpose camel fair in India.

It is a complex matter, as tourists and cattle traders to swarm the entire country during the carnival or fair. It is surprising to see traders negotiate on their precious animals such as camels, horses, cows, goats and sheep. In fact, the atmosphere becomes alive the day that people take the conclusion hollow on the banks of Lake chanting mantras. At dusk, many small earthen lamps are reduced and kept on boats delicate leaves and published in the Pushkar Lake, which makes for gloriously peaceful. This brings to a greater end camel fair in India. Thus, this festival is not simply about the removal, but trafficking is a phenomenon that we experience during the stay in Pushkar. So do not waste time and make your hotel reservations well in advance that the colorful festival is yet to come and you do not want to miss!
