If someone with celiac disease have flour on their skin, will they have an allergic reaction? I know that the disease is caused by the absence of a specific enzyme in the stomach, it does not seem that important meal touching their skin. Does anyone know for sure?
Celiac disease is a little different than an allergy. It is a genetic autoimmune disease. For a reaction gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats contaminated), but in your gut. The gluten is too large to be absorbed by skin.
For more detailed information I suggest www.gluten.net, the site of the Group of gluten intolerance in North America.
