What are the good cheap dinner recipes? Gas prices requires us to need to cut some other bills ... so I'm reduced to the grocery store today. What are the good pot / dish meals that do not cost much to do? We are a family of 4 persons. We're kind of getting sick of spaghetti ... but creative ideas with spaghetti are also popular. Only 2 of us eat seafood ... therefore preferably no seafood recipes
My mother's recipe for meatballs is really simple and out of the world ... and it's fast!
ground beef and season to taste (if you do not really need seasoning), spices, onions, whatever. Roll into balls (about the size of a golf ball) and brown in a frying pan. I usually make 4 or 5 meatballs per person while for a family of four, it can take about a pound of meat ... maybe less. In a small saucepan, heat (MED-down) a jar of Heinz chili sauce with 3 tablespoons soup. grape jelly (long enough for the frost to melt). Combine meatballs and sauce and serve with white rice w / a side of green beans!
Another thing to think about is chicken / Broc / rice casserole. The last time I made mine (and I know there are thousands of ways to do this), I just used chicken, broc and rice (all already prepared ... cooked rice boiled chicken and cut into cubes) and mixed with another can of cream of cheddar cheese and 1 / 2 cup bread crumbs ... was very good.
Here's one from my family likes:
Macaroni & Cheese -
1 lb. ground beef
1 / 4 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
14 1 / 2 oz diced tomatoes
2 cups raw macaroni (cook according to directions and drain)
A Campbell's Soup Cheddar
salt & pepper to taste
Sauted onion and garlic in a little olive oil. Add ground beef and brown. Add the diced tomatoes, including liquid in the can. Simmer until the liquid is mostly reduced ... 5-10 minutes. Add the macaroni and cheddar cheese soup. Heat through.
You can always add more cooked macaroni if you need to stretch the dish a little.
Dice a spam box (not the kind of computer), boil some noodles, drain, return to pan with Spam and a can of diced tomatoes, season and warm as you want.
Although this isn't the cheapest thing to do its not very expensive either ... My grandmother called chicken dinner planting ... and its delicious ... for a taste Amauti .. and your tight on money ...
you need a can of corn, peas, green beans and ... you need diced chicken and a can of cream of chicken .. you put into a pot and you cook for about 15-20 minutes .. then remove and stir it up ... You then need a box biscuiq ... you do as you're going to bisquik rolls but you actaully put it on top of the pan your decision .. but you put it there as the big clump ... then you cook that for the moment Recommended rear .. its been a cover dough .. but as his biscuits on top ... is so good. and not expensive.
I send it when people are looking for cheap eats. Although it is spaghetti, a new twist, it is
Pizza Spaghetti:
