Ah, the fine premium cigars. There really is nothing like the experience of a good cigar, a glass of cognac really good, and an evening in the shade. It is a peaceful experience to say the least.

But have you ever looked at your highest level of smoke and I was wondering what the events were that led to the realization of it? Most true cigar lovers have at one time or another.

The chain of events that led to the production of the cigar that you now have in your hand is long, spanning over 500 years. It all started when a brave explorer named Christopher Columbus decided to throw caution to the wind and risk everything to prove that there were more people than anyone knew at the time. In 1492, he found success with a little something in the new world called tobacco.

Ironically, Luis Torres of Spain sent to America decided to take some back to his home for personal use. After spotted the turn, he was arrested for witchcraft and sentenced to ten years in prison.

The occurrence of tobacco resurfaced as Cortez came across a tribe of natives who are Aztec tobacco smoke. Thanks Cortez, tobacco made its way across Spain. From there, the substance pipe smoke began to grow in popularity while use. In the mid-1500s, tobacco was its' way all the way to France, where the first seeds were planted and cultivated by a monk named Andre Thevet.

Hence, tobacco is a "path to the distant land of Portugal, Russia, Turkey and Italy. The Portuguese, through a trade route, to introduce to the Japanese. Onward she travels to Morocco, Egypt, and even the Philippines. Finally, in the early 1600s, he made a complete circle as historical documents reveal that the husband of Pocahontas, John Rolfe brought tobacco to the state of Virginia.

In early 1600, Cuba has built a solid name for the growth of fine-and became the principal supplier of most of the known world.

In the mid-1700s, the infamous Catherine the Great founded the band as a concept cigar. It seems that Catherine smoking cigars so much that his fingers into a brownish stain. Therefore, to avoid this, she had conceived a band so that it can hold its cigars without irritating the spot.

This brings us to the here and now. Today, we can sit and enjoy our fine cigars, knowing they have a history that goes back all the way to Columbus. So when you like the next major smoke, a plume shot and say: "Here's to you Chris!".
