Milk (2008) Movie - A Gay's Protest Milk - DVD is an American 2008 film directed by Gus Van Sant and stars Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, Josh Brolin as Dan White and James Franco as Scott Smith. This film is based on the inspiring true story of the first openly gay man elected to the supervisory board of San Francisco.
Harvey Milk was a homosexual who is about to reach their forties, and he got only few goals in his life. He still dreams of achieving something great in his life. On the eve of his forty years, he met a dashing young man - Scott Smith. Soon they both fall in love with each other. Soon, they decided to move to San Francisco, where some neighborhoods are more particularly gay friendly.

Being new to the area, Harvey opens a camera and a photo shop in the district of Castro Street, and soon make friends in the region and became aware of problems in the gay community. Soon, he witnesses the cops to behave brutally with the gay population that he loves. So he decided to oppose such brutality taking an activist position so that this injustice against his nature can be highlighted.
For the well-being of its gay community, the milk has launched a series of campaigns, political party to become the first openly gay man elected to public office. Although I was disappointed in two successive elections, he was elected to San Francisco Supervisory Board at its third attempt in 1977. Unfortunately, he has a difficult relationship with his fellow Supervisor - Dan White, a former policeman and fireman. Soon, their chemistry ends in a fight cold, threatening the political career of milk. Is this triumph of milk in its purpose?
