Humidor Instructions

I just bought a good cigar humidor glass top and I'm curious to know what procedures are appropriate to "break in." I read online that you never want to wipe the wood with any type of water, although the instructions provided with the cave say to wipe the inside with distilled water. Which side is right?

I also bought a solution of propylene glycol for humidifiers.

Gently wipe the inside with distilled water. You do not want to soak but you want to get some moisture in the wood. Once you wipe it, add humidifiers and close it. Let stand for a day or two. Your hygrometer should read 65% humidity at 70%. If it is lower reading, wipe it again and close it for another day. If you live in a colder zone, and has recently turned the furnace on, it will probably take a bit longer to raise the humidity because of the very dry air circulation inside the house. Store in a place where the heat will not blow directly on it, and check the moisture often. With glass top, you will be able to do this with the lid closed, so you will not lose moisture tries to make sure it is moist.
I use propylene glycol in one of my cigar boxes, and it seems to hold moisture and will not tip up or down as much as my humidor that I use distilled water cave in. The water was distilled fell to 58% the next day I turned on the oven, propylene glycol dropped to 63%, both were at 68% the previous day. I had nothing bad to report about it, except for a higher price to complete.

You start by putting the solution blocks ur humidor, close the lid and let stand for 24 hours empty. Then simply add the cigars and UR and keep on using ur solution. If u want u can repeat the process twice for best results. U really do not want to wipe it with water.

Good question. I am pleased to see that some issues cigar from time to time. I started smoking cigars expensive for 20 years. This is what I do. Firstly, its ok to wipe the cellar with distilled water just do not soak the wood. The more fog. This gives you an edge over humidification atmosphere. So I suggest not to use the solutions of propylene glycol. As they lose water in the atmosphere, they are, by definition, will change the relative humidity. I use distilled water only in my humidistat and complete monthly. Of course, you'll need a hygrometer to see where you stand. I recommend between 65-75% relative humidity. Get a digital if you can afford. Any higher and you might start to rot. You can feel it in a few commercials (the room) humidifiers cheap cigar shops. I now have four functional humidifiers and never a problem, therefore, believe that you want. Good Luck
