Low Fat Diet

Posted on March 29, 2010.
Low Fat DietIs a low carb diet you lose muscle? If yes, what is the most effective way to lose body fat?

I am doing cardio 3 times a week combined with strength training power twice a week. I used to eat good carbs (like multi-grain bread, wheat and granola, etc.) and lost 15 kg over the last 6 months, with about 10% body fat down. Recently, a health instructor that I met told me that low carb is happening, it's even better and I'll lose weight even faster. I have since (for about a week now) been on a low-carb and it feels strange to be on a low carbohydrate, high fat and protein diet since I'm on a diet low in fat for some time. I also did some research and it seems low-carbohydrate diets are not healthy. Is this true? Pls advise. Thank you.

The weight you lose initially in a low-carb diet is water. The body needs carbohydrates to burn to make energy. It does not get much of your fat cells, but muscle cells. Every professional I spoke strongly discourages diets low in carbohydrates.
