Milk HeaterProblems of water heaters - gas water heater

It forgot the camera, but when you have problems gas hot water heater can be very annoying. Most of the problems of water heaters are fairly easy to fix and some are impossible to correct.

I'll stick to the storage tank water heater type for this item because the water heater storage are easier to troubleshoot and repair the tankless water heater. They comprise roughly a tank of water on a burner with a thermostat. They are very simple and very reliable.

Tankless water heaters are sophisticated high-tech devices. The tankless units have multiple sensors to monitor things like temperature of incoming water outlet temperature, exhaust temperature and flow rate of water supply all information to an internal computer. The computer control things like the gas valve modulation and water valves. There are error codes and many models have the same remotes.

Typical problems you may encounter with your water heater are seeing things like go out or will not re-light, relief valves leaking or dripping, broken or damaged stanchions, spent anode rods, and leaks reservoirs.

Seeing problems

Usually problems seeing emerge from a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple is located directly in the pilot flame lit in red and heat. The thermocouple generates a small electric current to heat and maintain the current gas valve open.

If the thermocouple is bad pilot does not stay on. Replacing the thermocouple is relatively easy. Usually it is held in place by a nut. It is a small tubular metal object shaped like a small diameter metal tube that ends with a fitting that screws into the gas valve.

If the light stays on but the burners will not be one, check if the flame is bright blue. A weak yellow flame can not get warm enough for the thermocouple gas valve open.

The flame should touch the thermocouple about 1 / 2 inch from the end. The flame can be adjusted, usually by a small screw on the gas valve. Refer to owner's manual to get specific instructions for your device.

Problems diptube

The tube is a plastic tube that fits inside the entrance to the water heater. He directs the cold water from the water line at the bottom of the tank to prevent it from mixing with the hot water leaving the unit.

If we break dip tube, the cold water is mixed with the hot exit water heater and you'll be a much lower temperature hot. Broken stanchions usually result in symptoms such as running out of hot water very quickly, or the water temperature is too low.

Leaking or dripping valve TP.

storage water heaters have a safety device known as a temperature-pressure relief valve which opens if the temperature gets too high or if the water pressure is too high. Without the TPR valve, also known as a pop-off valve, the heater can become a bomb.

I just watched a youtube video by Mythbusters water heater showing a jump ... It was very impressive.

The owner manuals generally state that you should test your tap TP at least once a year by lifting the handle and releasing water. Based on my experience, after you've done it is a good chance it will still drip.

The solution I know for a leaky valve TPR is down to the hardware store and buy a new one.

Thermostat problems

Thermostats rarely crash. If they do you might want to allow a professional to replace. Gas leaks can be extremely dangerous.

The symptoms that occur when there is my problem with the gas valve is no hot water or hot water that is too low temperature. Most often the symptoms will not have hot water as you discover when you arrive in the shower in the morning.
