Gru tea uses 100 percent recycled and recyclable packaging, as well as vegetable-based inks and dyes. The tea bags are 100 per cent oxygen bleached and use strings of pure cotton and inert metal staples.

CTC and orthodox teas from our tea plantation in Darjeeling, Assam and partners. The teas are sold bulk packed in paper bags, jute bags or tea chests.

All teas come from the "Camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub that can reach 60 feet in nature. When cultivated for harvest the tea bushes are maintained at a height of about three feet. There are more 3000 varieties of tea, each with its own characteristics.

Tea is harvested after each flush - the sprouting of the first two leaves and buds. The first two leaves and buds are picked by hand, then turned into one of four types of tea: black, green, oolong and white.

Black tea is withered, fully oxidized and dried. Black tea gives a warm, infusion of color to amber. Some of the popular black teas include English Breakfast and Darjeeling.

Green tea skips the oxidizing step. It is simply withered and then dried. It has a more delicate taste and is pale green / gold.

Oolong tea is popular in China. It is withered, partially oxidized and dried. Oolong is a cross between black tea and green in color and taste.

The white tea is less processed. A very rare tea from China, white tea is not oxidized or rolled, but simply withered and dried by steam.
