Yoplait Probiotic

Posted on March 6, 2010.
Yoplait ProbioticIs regular yogurt (like Yoplait) have the digestive system of the same advantages as Activa (Danone) yogurts or Yakult?

The hype value of money on Danone Activa yogurt or probiotic drink Yakult? Or regular yogurt Yoplait to do the same thing?

Is Yoplait regularly have "good" bacteria such as Yakult or digestive Activa?

Thank you in advance!

Here is a piece of a Q & A About probitoic yogurt. If the label says it is pro (or pre)-biotic, then he has added. Regular yogurt did not have enough real health benefits.
Best choice if you want the health benefits is to try probiotics pills, with a minimum of 12 billion cells, you can find what are all health food stores or even in some grocery stores. You'd have to eat lots of yogurt (even labeled pro-biotic) for really the same benefits. Opt for the cheaper 'plain' yogurt and swallow a pill a day!

Q & A
It seems that the word probiotic is the new buzzword when it comes to yogurt. What is Probiotics?

Probiotic means "for life." Probiotics are healthy bacteria that we have in our intestinal tract. Most yogurts contain these bacteria, but many of them contain a small amount. Many new "probiotic" bacteria that they contain enough probiotics actually have a health benefit.

Why should we care about probiotics?

Probiotics are promoted as being beneficial for the wonderful health, especially for treating intestinal diarrhea. It may also help fight against disease Inflammatory bowel, eczema and asthma.

Why now? (I know that Danone Canada Govn't seeking to change the rules a few years ago so they can make specific health claims about probiotics on packaging.)

I'm not sure but I know it took them some time to really find a probiotic that could live in the intestinal tract. Many bacteria die on their way through the digestive tract, and therefore does not do much good. Some of these new "probiotic" yogurts that their last bacteria throughout the intestinal tract.

What is hype and how much is based on the benefits they have? (Danone has continued its probiotic claims.)

Studies are mixed, but those on intestinal health is good. Yogurt consumption has never killed anyone, and it is a good way to get the milk for milk substitutes / in your day (especially for non-milk drinkers). So if someone wants to try a probiotic yogurt, go ahead. I think we have to stay tuned and see what new scientific discover. My only concern is that some yogurts are high in fat, so make sure you choose one that is low in fat.
